Dessert anyone?

Ok, this is one of my favourite recipes - Banana Nut Bread. The smell of warm banana nut bread reminds of cold evenings when you can sit in your comfy chair, drink hot chocolate and read your book - just a warm, very snuggly kind of feeling. A slice of this bread on such an evening just adds to the experience. Trust me!

Ingredients:

3/4 cup butter
1 cup powdered sugar
1/2 cup brown sugar
1 1/2 cup mashed bananas
2 eggs
1 tsp vanilla extract
2 cups all purpose flour
1 tsp baking soda
3/4 tsp salt
1 cup walnuts and almonds
1 tsp instant coffee powder
1 tsp cinnamon powder

Method:

1. Cream together butter and sugar (both varieties) until light and fluffy.
2. To the mashed bananas add the vanilla extract, instant coffee powder and cinnamon powder.
3. Sift together the flour, baking powder and salt.
4. Add eggs to the cream and sugar, one at a time, until well blended.
5. Alternately, stir in the flour and the banana mixture, until well blended.
6. Stir in the walnuts and almonds.
7. Put the mixture into a greased tray and bake for about 55 minutes at 325 degrees.

By this time, the whole house usually smells of the banana nut bread. Its just irresistable.

  1. Dear Flavors - I remember clearly the first time you made banana bread. It was so good! Also, another idea can be to throw in some semi-sweet chocolate chips - will be all gooey and good when the bread bakes!
